Specializations and Approach

Two Trees Therapy Services was founded in 2019. Over the past 4 years, Two Trees Therapy has steadily grown and I hope to add more clinicians and specialists to the practice in the near future. Currently I see both children and adults for treatment with specialization in treating psychosis, trauma, and developmental disabilities. Some of the unique populations I work with include combat veterans, first responders, children under 5 years old, and children with medical trauma. When working with children, I use client-centered, play-based therapy as this allows the child to communicate through play. You can read more about play therapy by clicking the “Child Therapy” tab. For adult patients who want to heal from trauma, I provide a holding space for the trauma while also being present with my patients as they work through the process of healing at their own pace. Trauma becomes a very heavy burden and people need a safe, judgement-free place to unload it and process all the emotions that go along with it.

My theoretical orientation is psychodynamic psychotherapy, which is a therapy approach that explores how past experiences shape current behavior and emotions, focusing on unconscious processes and the therapeutic relationship to gain insight, resolve conflicts, and foster personal growth. If we are able to get to the root of the problem, you will find the ability to leave the past in the past and move forward with your life. My office is a space to unload your stress, burdens, fears, memories, whatever it is, so that these difficulties do not follow you home and disrupt your life.

Your struggles are unique. You may be adjusting to life following trauma, you may be battling a lifelong diagnosis, or you may have events from your past you want to work through. Almost everyone needs some support in their life. I hope to be able to help you in your time of need by offering guidance, empathy, honesty, and compassion.

Education and Training

Dr. Faye Kouimelis (Dr. Faye) started her mental health career in 2005 after receiving her Master’s of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University’s School of Medicine in St Louis, MO. After living in St. Louis, she moved to Los Angeles, CA and began practicing as a pediatric and mental health OT for children with autism and severe behavioral concerns. After practicing in pediatric and mental health occupational therapy for 5 years, she returned to school to become a psychologist. She completed her doctorate degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Orange County, CA. Once her schooling was finished, she moved to Evanston, WY to complete her internship and residency hours. She concluded her training in 2017 and decided to move to Denver, CO to begin her career as a psychologist.

About Dr. Faye

Dr. Faye was born in the suburbs of Chicago to an immigrant Greek father and American, born Polish mother. She enjoyed moving around her adult life as it offered opportunities to see how life is very different depending on where in the US one is living. Having these different perspectives has helped Dr. Faye to better understand American culture. In addition to helping human, Dr. Faye also has a passion for helping animals and volunteers as a foster for a local animal rescue as well as volunteering with a state-wide pet food and supplies donation center.
