Specializations and Approach
Dr. Faye Kouimelis (Dr. Faye) started working with children as and pediatric occupational therapist in 2005 specializing in sensory processing, school-based OT, and children with emotional and behavioral dysregulation. She worked as an OT for several years before going back to school to earn a doctorate degree in clinical psychology in order to better help the children who suffered from trauma. Dr. Faye completed her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology in 2017 and began preparing to develop her private practice. In 2019, Dr. Faye founded Two Trees Therapy Services, LLC which specializes in therapy for children and adults who have history of traumas. Over the years, due to her background in OT, she noticed a high need for younger children with medical trauma and/or sexual trauma. Due to this high need, Dr. Faye has dedicated herself to serving this population. As Two Trees Therapy Services have grown, she has been able to bring on other clinicians who focus on treatment for older children, teens, and adults.
Dr. Faye’s approach to working with children, included client-centered, play-based therapy as this allows the child to communicate through play. You can read more about play therapy by clicking the “Play Therapy” tab.
Education and Training
Dr. Faye started her mental health career in 2005 after receiving her master of science degree in occupational therapy from Washington University’s School of Medicine in St Louis, MO. After living in St. Louis, she moved to Los Angeles, CA and began practicing as a pediatric mental health OT for children with autism and severe behavioral concerns. After practicing as an OT for several years, she returned to school to become a psychologist. She completed her doctorate degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) with a concentration in child and adolescent therapy from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Orange County, CA. Once her schooling was finished, she moved to Evanston, WY to complete her internship and residency hours. She concluded her training in 2017 and decided to move to Denver, CO to begin her career as a psychologist.
